whatupdoc

psych! i made it fancy! kind of. not that anyone reads this anyway. ohh velllll.

i recently purchased some doc martens on ebay and i'm SUPER excited about it :) even though my sister says she only approves of them on tall skinny people and that on us they'll go up to our knees and swallow us whole (i stand tall at 5'1", thank you very much). but i don't care. i've been drooling over this trend for weeks now and i'm so unbelievably amped to get these little babies in the mail. i wish i could afford some of the gloriously floral printed ones, but these will do for now! i will upload a picture as SOON as they arrive. i went for the plain black (matte, not shiny) because doc martens in and of themselves are bold enough for me. anything more attention grabbing and i would either a. never wear them except occasionally for myself to look at my feet in the mirror (yes, i do that all of the time with the piles and piles of heels that i own) or b. retreat shyly to secluded corner of the room in a fit of self-concious panic.

mmm and now i'm done.

spring? are you here yet?

oh lord, i am no good at blogging. and so i will...rant. for my own entertainment, i suppose.

i'm working on a piece for my metal casting class right now that involes babies. lots of babies. i'm a pretty proud momma thus far, they're pretty special. uh-like so:

first we have baby: the original. basasdlgkj. i casted this little guy from a little plastic one i found in a pack at hobby lobby (with '1" white babies' as the description...i found that oddly hilarious. i find this whole project oddly hilarious). so with him i made a rubber mold, wiiiith which i was able to make lots and lots of WAX babies. and then i turned into a baby-makin machine last week and spent about ten hours cleaning them up and giving them accessories...

my dear friends, let me introduce you to mustache baby (slightly hard to see), monocle/pipe baby (somei say he resembles mr. peanut. hey, i'll take it), top hat/cane baby (monopoly man much?), propeller cap baby, iPod baby, pirate baby, shades baby, french baby (oui, oui!) and max-ish lookin' baby (kind of an accident...long story. i'm rollin' with it). not pictured: business baby, complete with a neck tie and brief case!

my babies will (hopefully) be in metal by friday, or at least most of them.

in other news: last weekend i went with robs and sand (mom and aunt, for future reference) to the most fantastic vintage clothing store in the hiiiistory of vintage clothing stores. i only bought two things (the cheapest. ho-hum), but they make me want spring time soooooo badly:

apologies for the lame-o picture in my dorm room/cell phone pic. they're awful, i know and the colors look horrendous in comparison to what they actually look like. also, please disregard my cankles :D much oblige. but ooohh my god, vintage high-waisted blue floral skirt? the springiest spring heels i've ever seen? i'm not sure the labels on them or anything too specific, and i'm far too lazy to find out right now. let's all just gawk and admire. the top in the picture with the blue skirt actually came with matching high-waisted pants that looked awkward on me. shucks.

i get too happy and too giddy around wonderful vintage clothing. there was a lot of gasping going on.

oh my, too much writing. i do that. have a lovely day!

Well, well, well. After my recent development of a fashion blogging obsession, I've finally started one of my own. Really, I'm a bit intimidated. Sloppy, clueless, awkward, wide-eyed little rookie I may be (even though I'm 19...), I still have a really really huge interesting in getting more familiar with fashion (what an incredibly broad word, hm?) in general, the industry itself, actual designers, the like.

Not to mention, I dream big...but sort of ambiguously. I'd love to incorporate fashion into my career, but I have no idea how. I'm a potential metalsmithing major in college (jewelry design), also a potential English/Journalism major. I'd like to think these two can mesh...but apparently that's unrealistic. BOO. Maybe blogging can...do...something? Bah, I don't know. Plus, I have a sister living in New York right now (metalsmithing graduate) working for Krupp Group, so she's had quite an influence on me in one way or another.

aannnnyyyywaaay. Now I'm starting to feel self-conscio
us and stupid. meh. please receive me with open arms, open hearts, open minds, fellow bloggers? please and thank you :]

I will leave you with a picture of aust and myself from last summer in brooklyn. Austin is wearing possibly my favorite dress of all time--from Wildman Vintage in Lawrence, KS (hooome). She tried to swindle me out of it. No dice.

Miss summer. Miss Austin. Miss my pink hair.
